Explore! Guidelines - 2008
Behavior
We intend for every child and adult entering either our year round studios or attending one of our summer camp programs to have fun while at the same time, respecting the rights of others. This means disruptive or abusive behavior is not accepted. Poor behavior may result in dismissal with no refund. So, have as much fun as you like, just make sure your fun is not at the expense of others.
That being said, Explore reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice, in such a case a refund for unused lessons/camps will be given.
Special Needs
We welcome all who wish to attend one of our programs. Please inform us when registering in writing of any physical or emotional condition, or learning differences in advance so that we ensure a fulfilling experience. You may also discuss any conditions with your specific teacher.
Explore! Guidelines Specific to Summer Camps
Pre Camp Care & Post Camp Care
Early Drop Off and Late Pick Up are available at the North Raleigh or the Queens University locations. For Early Drop off you can bring your camper as early as 7:30 a.m. for $30 per week, or $8 per day. For Late Pick Up you can pick up your camper as late as 6:30 p.m. for $30 per week, or $8 per day. In order to arrange Late Pick Up you must either be enrolled in afternoon adventure until 4pm or a camp that runs until 4pm. If you'd like to have both Early Drop Off and Late Pick Up the discounted rate is only $50 total per week. Registration in advance is recommended to ensure space availability. Campers not on the pre-enrolled roster will be automatically charged the per day rate.
Fees
Registration for camp is $30 - this is a one-time per summer fee, per family.
Registration also requires a deposit of $100 non refundable deposit in order to ensure the spot is reserved for your child.
Balances must be paid in full by May 30th or at time of registration.
Deposits made with a credit card will automatically be charged the remaining balance on May 30th.
Camp Discounts
Sibling Discount: Register two children or more and receive a 10% discount on the second, third and fourth child's camps. Discount applies to camps of equal or lesser value than the first child's camp(s).
Withdrawal
If for any reason you decide not to attend the camp, we must receive notice in writing no later than four weeks prior to the first day of that particular camp. Any fees other than the $100.00 non refundable deposit and $30.00 registration fee will be returned.
Refunds
Once a camp has begun, no refunds can be made for any reason. If you withdraw four weeks or more beforehand, you will receive a refund for any monies outside of your deposit and registration fees collected by Explore!. This is because we have a high demand for our camps and last minute withdrawal does not give us time to find a new camper.
Cancellation of a Camp
In the unlikely event that a camp is cancelled, parents will receive notice
within 10 days of the scheduled start date. All fees paid will be refunded in
full.
Guidelines Specific to Studio Music, Art and Enrichment
Fees
There is a one time per school year registration fee of $25, per family. Additional costs apply for different classes for materials needed. Please call us for more details.
Tuition Payments
Tuition may be paid in full up front or you can arrange for a monthly draft from a checking account or credit/debit card. The drafts will be made in the last five business days of the month for the upcoming months lessons. Tuition may be paid by check, but requires a deposit of one month's tuition. Tuition is calculated based upon the number of scheduled lessons in a given month. For example, if your class is $20 per week and there are four weeks in February, your account will be drafted $80 at the end of January. This amount may differ slightly month to month, due to the amount of weeks in any given month.
If a check or draft is returned from your bank unpaid, there will be a $25 fee applied to your account and Explore! will redraft your account. If attempts to secure payments are repeatedly unsuccessful, the student will not be allowed to attend further classes unless the account is brought up to date.
Withdrawal Policies
A 30-day written notice is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in writing. To withdraw from a class or lessons a parent or adult student must:
All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will cease upon completion of the 30-day notice period.
Explore reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice, in such a case a refund for unused lessons will be given.
Notice of Absence
Students are required to provide Explore notice of an absence. Explore must receive this notice by 10:00 am the day of the lesson in order to inform the teacher promptly. Provided proper notice is given, students will be allowed to make up 2 lessons during the semester. If Explore or the teacher cancels the class, this will not be considered as one of your two makeups. With we understand that schedules are busy and that there may be extreme circumstances, we cannot be expected to arrange numerous makeup lessons for one child at the expense of the teacher's schedule for new students.
Makeup lessons cannot be offered for classes held in outbound locations (outside of the studios), with some exceptions. This is because our availability at those places depends on that particular locations schedule. In some cases, a makeup may be offered for those classes at a nearby studio.
Please call the main office to arrange for a makeup lesson. No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.
Art Portfolios and Clay
Each semester work must be collected or anytime a student withdraws.
Explore! cannot be held liable for artwork after that time.
Sharing
Art: Each studio offers an inclusive, non-competitive art show in a community venue each year. Every student along with their teacher will choose the work to be displayed. A $5 materials fee is charged for matting and display costs. We hold a formal opening for friends and family. Outbounds may have shows depending on the availability of the space for that particular location.
Music: There will be a non-competitive music recital each semester for students, participation is optional. Sign-up for the recital will be posted in each location prior to the event.
Inclement Weather/Snow Day Closings
In the event of unsafe road conditions and extreme inclement weather, classes may be cancelled.
Explore does not automatically follow local public school closings, but closings will be posted on the radio, local channels (including WRAL in the Triangle area), and on www.explorebeyondschool.com.
There will be a make up schedule for any Explore closings due to weather/snow days.
Holidays
Explore does not follow local public school calendars regarding closings and holidays. We offer our classes and camps to families from numerous schools (including home school) and religious backgrounds and simply cannot observe every holiday. We also seek to keep their schedules as regular as possible and many children want to come to class even if they had no school that day.
Our holidays for 2008 are as follows: March 21, 22, 23, May 25, 26, July 4 - on these dates no classes will be held, and no one is charged.
Outbound locations often follow different calendars that are in sync with the specific location - please confirm the dates when there is no class at the time of your registration.
