Explore! Music- Bach to Rock
Start date Sept 12, 2007
This course is designed to provide an overview of music history with a kid-friendly, modern approach that is completely hands-on. The timeline of western music is a detailed one, and the eager learner will benefit from learning the difference between Classical and Baroque, Romantic and various 20th Century styles.
For both the older and younger groups, one time period of western music will be explored per week (in chronological order.) For each time period, the most famous composer from that era will be the focal point, and one of his songs will be the listening/playing/creating example for that week. Mozart did write "Twinkle Twinkle" after all!
By the 10th week, each student will have his or her own folder of all activities to keep and take home, and musical knowledge that will last a lifetime.
Running dates: 10 weeks: Sept. 12,19,26 Oct. 3,10,17,24,31 Nov. 7,14

Art & Clay Lessons
Home School Art - Ages 9 & up
Kids at this age
are thrilled to learn how to create pictures of their favorite things
that are instantly recognizable. In our classes we teach sophisticated
ways of seeing with easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. They
soon realize how they can make things look “3-D”! We
draw things that early elementary age kids love: tigers in the jungle,
nature, flowers, fairy tale castles and dragons, snakes lying in
wait for their prey, ancient Inca warriors and much more. We also
begin to draw and shade real objects like flowers and fruit. Media:
Markers, colored pencils, watercolors, chalk pastels and oil pastels.

Home School Art - Ages 9 & up
This class is geared
to the student who is ready for a challenge and is willing to tackle
elements of art that require mature, cognitive thought and serious,
focused effort. Beginners with little or no prior art instruction
will have a successful outcome and a very relaxing, enjoyable experience.
For the more confident artist, we offer an opprtunity to develop
independent projects under the supportive, alert professional eye
of the instructor. For those who prefer more structure, a lesson
is always set up for the class. This class focuses on finished pieces
in nature studies, still-life, one and two point perspective, and
facial proportions.
